Quickie: Army of Darkness (1992)

Review of the Theatrical Cut.

Army of Darkness is the ultimate-genre mix-up of its decade: It’s a fantasy, horror, action, thriller, dark comedy, slapstick comedy, straight-up comedy, science fiction, swash-buckling adventure flick. As always, Bruce Campbell absolutely makes this movie what it is, and the brand-new medieval setting is quite fathomable. This is probably my least favorite entry of the Evil Dead franchise, but that’s not saying a lot considering I thoroughly enjoy all of them. Cheap, cheesy, corn-balls simply don’t get any better than this. (Verdict: B)

This movie has more quotable one-liners than explosions in the Michael Bay Transformers movies. And that’s a LOT.
