Jennifer Tilly’s live and voice performance as Tiffany (AKA, The Bride of Chucky) is the grooviest thing to happen to this franchise since, well, Brad Dourif’s staging as Chucky was first ever presented on the big screen back in ‘88. Chucky and Tiffany’s rowdy, vicious chemistry is what makes Bride of Chucky seem a tad more thirst-quenching than it does passionless. Integrating some corny Rob Zombie and Blondie music also helps make this ride notably less of a challenge to sit through.
The flimsy teenaged characters hold this movie from being anywhere near great and the first half is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the second, but it’s sweet to see a franchise flip its tone in such an unanticipated direction while wisely choosing to not follow the same formulaic thwacks of its predecessor.
