I’m about 99.7% sure that The Farewell is the cure to depression.
Lulu Wang’s personal feature The Farewell is just the ideal whisk of innate humor and consequential tragedy. It’s nothing radically contrary from what I have seen before in countless other dramas before, but the execution is gashed to such exuberant perfection that it’s hard not to get invested in its totality. And somebody, give 奶奶 an Oscar!
Verdict: B
And how is this movie an hour and forty minutes long? That felt like thirty minutes. I want moreeeeeeeeeeee.
