Wes Anderson’s debut Bottle Rocket was a p-r-e-t-t-y g-o-o-d directorial debut! Its drawbacks are glaring, but it’s strapping charm and characters countermand these pesky attributes.
Some of the dialogue does seem like it was astronomically winged, and the movie is cut in a fashion that is a tad bit jarring at times. Nonetheless, for anyone who saw this back in 1996, it’s clear that they must’ve suspected that this new, up-and-coming director had many more talents up his sleeves to showcase in future projects. Potential is quite obvious in Bottle Rocket.
