Came for Robert Mitchum. Stayed for Robert Mitchum. That’s my review. Thanks for sticking around.
Wait. One last thing. I believe the lesson here is to not marry a preacher if you’re planning on having a good time. A serial killer preacher especially, I suppose.
And. And. I’m not a big sucker for those movie or book plot-lines where everybody thinks the kid is lying and everybody thinks the adult is telling the truth when in reality it’s the other way around +++ a plot that, furthermore, writes an entire chain of (poorly edited) events that are so preposterously in favor of this main kid surviving that it’ll sacrifice any amount of practicality to get its devil-may-care ending. Stop it.
The cinematography is the biggest win ever though. HOLY.
Verdict: C+
