After watching this movie, I think I have metaphysically become Pedro Almodóvar.
Pain and Glory is the supposedly autobiographical account of Almodóvar’s childhood and career. This archetypal Almodóvar film is nothing particularly inventive nor superb (it’s reasonably expected) but it is interesting to witness all the strenuous emotions of an accomplished filmmaker spew out on a screen.
The ending here might be his best one yet, as well.
Verdict: B
“Pain and Glory” is now playing in select theaters.
