Clint Eastwood’s latest based-on-true-story composition is an ample simplification of how the power-hungry thirst of the American government and multiplying media can tear down the public’s perception of true heroes and unwarrantedly cause assumptions of a more sinister motive behind suspects. This 2019 knockout is yet another slightly surface-level but enthralling story that proves that most people can’t handle the thought that there are some individuals out there (like Richard Jewell) who are simply better than them.
Rest in peace, Jewell.
Verdict: B-
