Quick-Thoughts: The Blackcoat’s Daughter (2015)

It’s sort of like the It Comes At Night of vvitch school movies.

You’ve ought to cherish movies that always keep you guessing—especially slow-burn horror movies with themes of manipulation and loneliness that resent spoon-feeding you information. It’s a shame to see that the general public finds The Blackcoat’s Daughter to be awfully boring as if the keen suspense, imagery, and mystery weren’t enough to keep their attention intact.

Oz Perkin’s directorial debut has certainly gotten me more than interested in checking out his retelling of the fabled Hansel and Gretel tale. Finally! A movie in January I’m dying to see.

And hot damn, Sabrina; you’re scary!

Verdict: B

“The Blackcoat’s Daughter” is now available to stream on Vudu, YouTube, Amazon Prime, Google Play, iTunes, and Netflix.
