Long-take conversations, radiating chemistry, meticulous directing, genuine acting quirks, and down-to-earth dialogue; movie lived up to the hype!
Before Sunrise captures the common, natural first-time connection we find ourselves as humans falling into irregularly. My mind is still pissed off by the idea that this entirely believable relationship dispensed on-screen was devised from the brain of a screenwriter. Now, I know what it must feel like to be that stereotypical teenage girl who reads nothing but YA romance novels.
Hm, let’s rewind again; what was so utopian about this film? It’s brutally honest, philosophically provocative, emotionally draining, and resurrects the eviscerating traits of forgotten romantic dramas that haven’t been this memorable since Casablanca or Vertigo; if Before Sunset isn’t a DAMN good movie, then I don’t know what is. So lesson learned: if anybody understands human attraction, it’s Richard Linklater. Oh, and I guess Céline Sciamma. Gosh, I can’t wait to rewatch Portrait of a Lady on Fire tomorrow. This has been one emotional, unintentional double-feature coincidence. Hey, just like love!
