Quick-Thoughts: Martin Scorsese’s Casino (1995)

Casino may just be Goodfellas with a poker face and a psycho wife that isn’t crazy in love with the hustler protagonist, but who’s complaining? Joe Pesci returns as the mobbish daredevil, Robert De Niro gives another telling performance, Scorsese’s directing continues to motor off as high-class material, and the essential narration never gambles to not be immersive. What more can I say? It’s another foreseen yet historically fascinating Scorsese movie to check off my list! Goodfellas, Casino, The Wolf of Wall Street, and The Irishman. The unofficial quadrilogy!

Moreover, the visual landscaping of Casino is quite sublime. Jackpot!

Verdict: B+
