Quick-Thoughts: Martin Scorsese’s Cape Fear (1991)

Robert DeNiro is an absolute chameleon in Cape Fear. His character Max Cady is a convicted rapist, but his sturdy belief in the cornerstones of the Bible is what he uses to dignify his repulsive actions. He discharges the texts into the stir of his justifications and uses them to express why the redeeming of his past will lead him to salvation. While there can be a faithful and loving side to religion, the actions of Cady prove that many morality systems can paradoxically provoke psychopaths who use its guidelines as a gateway to justify their monstrous tendencies.

Anyways, aside from that, Cape Fear is basically just a “roller coaster movie.” Ha! Get it, Scorsese?
