Quick-Thoughts: Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Santa Sangre (1989)

Yeah, the death of one’s innocence is never pretty. An early breakage of it especially feels like a stasis on or a misinterpretation of what the innate desires of adulthood are to be treated as forever onward. That’s why we need retribution from even more discovery, to progress rather than sustain in the earliest of arousals.

Santa Sangre – my first Jodorowsky! – is a solid circus act bounce-off of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic Psycho (1960). Though, its first two acts are significantly >>> than its third, they are two damn immaculate ones in regards to coming of age horror.

A modern version of this movie could focus on online pornography in all honesty.

Verdict: B

“Santa Sangre” is now available to stream on Shudder.
