Quick-Thoughts: Won’t You Be My Neighbor? ★★★★½

Won’t You Be My Neighbor is an emotional rollercoaster that tells the story about one of the most loving figures ever to live, Fred Rogers. This is a documentary that everybody should undoubtly see especially in these modern times. It’s simply the very definition of “inspiring.” (Verdict: A)

Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982): The Oddest Horror Sequel Ever

The nicest comment I can make about Halloween III: Season of the Witch, is that it felt like an hour and a half-long, R-rated Goosebumps episode. It’s certainly an oddball movie, with a huge case of having multiple WTF moments. I respect it for being “different” from the previous Halloween movies, but to me, it was a little too goofy for my taste. That being said, someplace deep down inside my cortex keeps on yelling at me that this movie is a special, gem, in an odd, and demented sort of fashion, and for that reason alone, I think I’ve learned to admire this film as time has passed on. (Verdict: B-)

I do have to say, Carpenter continues his streak of making epic new and original scores in this movie. The Halloween franchise officially has the best horror movie scores now.

Halloween II (1981) Is A Great Sequel

I can’t lie, Halloween II vastly exceeded my expectations. It’s a rare horror sequel that actually respectively works. Yah, occasionally it gets cheesy and predictable, but coming off of John Carpenter’s classic, I thought it did far and beyond well. Also, the “Hot Tub” and the “Blind Myers” sequences were exhilaratingly as hell. (My Shocking Verdict: A-)

Quick-Thoughts: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ★★½

My feelings towards Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom are essentially the same as mine on the previous Jurassic World. They’re both senselessly enjoyable, and you can have fun watching them. However, they bring nothing authentic or refreshing to the franchise and are ultimately just typical, mediocre summer blockbusters. The Jurassic Park series deserves miles better than this. (Verdict: C-)

Even though this entry is watchable, it still doesn’t stop it from being annoying. At times this movie is just very very very obnoxious. Way too many times.

Revisiting John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978)

So I’m going to be marathoning the Halloween movies leading up to David Gordon Green’s new incarnation coming out later this year. John Carpenter’s original classic Halloween, still erupts with fright and terror even after all these years. Directed with mastery and suspenseful as hell, Halloween’s story of supernatural character Michael Myers’s reign of bloodshed is undoubtedly legendary. (Verdict: A+)

Quick-Thoughts: Incredibles 2 ★★★★

1st Viewing: I’m overjoyed to announce that Incredibles 2 was worth the 14 year wait. It’s a pure blast from start to finish that pleased my nostalgic expectations. All though the new characters including the villain didn’t impress me, the original characters we know and love carried this film fortuitously. (Verdict: A-)

2nd Viewing: Even more *INCREDIBLE* than the first time watching (but not really)! Sorry guys…I’m sure that one has been done a billion times…I’ll leave now… Verdict Change: (A- —> B+)

Sign the Jack Jack Spin-off Petition if you got mad respect for this movie and the holy, one and only, goddly character that is Jack Jack.

Quick-Thoughts: Hereditary ★★★★½

1st Viewing: Hereditary is one of the most unsettling films I’ve ever seen. It’s been a while since a horror movie has gotten this much under my skin. Look out for Ari Aster. He might just become the next household name in the world of cinema. (Verdict: A)

2nd Viewing: Almost as riveting as when Ari Aster liked my tweet! (Verdict Is Still An: A)

Quick-Thoughts: Best F(r)iends: Volume 2 ★★★★

Best theater experience of the year so far. The crowd was wild!

Best F(r)iends Volume 2 was just as berserk as its predecessor. It ascended a startling amount of intensity and amped up its David Lynch-like tone. Please, Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero, don’t stop making movies! Also, Rick Edwards’s performance was next level iconic. (Verdict: B+)
